I am considering replacing the original MSD on my 1983 hunter 31. The current one has some leaking seals & I don't think a repair kit is a good investment. I'd rather replace than repair. I am considering and electric MSD. Any suggestions for electric or otherwise which will fit. Thanks Chuck Dickhut S/V Kililani

Raritan PH II

I recently replaced the head on my 1985 H31 with a Raritan PH II which can be purchased in either manual or electric model. I got the manual model and had no trouble with the fit. Laura Bertran 1985 H31, Rising Tide Annapolis, MD

I would NOT go with the electric PH II

The manual version is a fine toilet--consistently rated the best manual toilet under $500...but all the motor does is replace the pump handle...it pump the toilet much faster and with a much shorter stroke, wearing out seals much faster and making the toilet easier to clog. IMO it turns an outstanding manual toilet into a very poor excuse for an electric toilet--one of the few things that Raritan makes that I don't like or consider a good value. Their SeaEra electric macerating toilet, otoh, is an outstanding value and an excellent product. It's available as either a complete toilet or a conversion kit, and both are available in sea water pump or fresh water flush models. Check it out on the Raritan website at http://www.raritaneng.com
