Who has repalceed the stand-up jib sheet blocks on their Oday 22? The sheaves on my original Shaefer equipment are shot, and are non-replaceable. It doesn't look like I can just get a new block and reuse the base, either, since the whole unit seems to be welded together I'd like to keep the same 2 hole pattern if possible too. Any ideas for replacements? Brad A. O22 NYC

Matching holes

Brad - It is one of the unwritten rules of boating that when you replace a piece of equipment the holes will not match. This is a blessing in disguise because since you need to fill the old holes you are more likely to do the new ones right. :) Get your new block and place it on the deck. Mark the positions of the new holes. Drill through the top skin of fiberglass and the core - but not the bottom skin of glass - with a bit twice the size of the holes you need for the block attachment hardware. Fill all of the holes, new and old, with thickened epoxy. Let cure. Finally, drill your new holes in the epoxy plugs you've created in the deck. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
