Replacement Head

The time has come for me to replace the head in my C-22. I have had a Thetford Seafarer since 1980, and have rebuilt it several times, but it is about ready for retirement. It is a one piece toilet, and clumsy to empty. Has anyone recently replaced their head in a C-22 that is pre-1986? I want to get one that has a cassette to empty the poop. I also want one that fits easily into the space the way my current one does. If you installed one that you like, I'm open for suggestions. Thanks, Aldo

Portapotty

I am at the same point as you. I have a mansfield sanipottie that is old (original in my 1984 C22) and due for replacement. I think it is the same as the current sealand model. I have found it convient to be able to just carry the lower tank for dumping, but it is hard to empty with out slopping all over. One of the ones with a spout might work better. I have been considering one with a taller lower tank and possibly pumpout capability (like the Thetford 875 MSD Manual Head). I am not sure how inconvenient the extra height would be though or how it would fit in the available space. Comments?

New porta-potty

Aldo: When I bought my boat 9 years ago I replaced the old direct pump-out head with a new porta potty. It is either a SeaLand or sanipotty (I'm not sure which one) with a short holding tank, and it came with hold down brackets that I screwed to the floor. These brackets have done a great job of holding the head in place during steep heels and rough seas. I would recommend the short holding tank due to the low ceiling in that area, I am only 5'8" and its just enough room for me to sit up with the short tank. I will E-mail you with the exact make of the potty in a day or two. Barry P. Broyles C22 # 1909 "Brighteyes" E-mail LTBROYT6D@cs.com
