Replacement Fuel FIlter on my H33

OK, so I'm shopping for a replacement fuel filter for Patronus, my 2011 H33. The existing fuel filter element is a RACOR R12SUL. In my internet search, I found both R12SUL and R12S filters. Spec wise, they both fit the filter assembly and are 2 micron, except one appears to be UL listed. The R12S is about 1/2 the price of the R12SUL. Defender only lists the R12S. West Marine only carries the R12SUL. What are you guys using?

Not too sure about your question regarding the price difference, but I think you will find that they recommend a 10 micron on the racor (not 2 micron). Your filter on the engine is the secondary and I think that it is less than 10 microns.

The UL designation is for use with the metal bowl. Is your inspection bowl (the one on the bottom of the filter) metal? The good news is either UL and non-UL filters will fit. I also agree with Steve that you may want to consider a 10 micron filter since your secondary filter is presumably a 2 micron--the micron size is your choice though.

We have the metal bowl and our filter is in the engine compartment. The original filter is a 2 micron, so I,ll probably stick with the original spec filter.

I think if you would check with a Yanmar dealer they would NOT suggest a 2 micron primary. I know you say that it was the original, but it is not a Yanmar recommendation.

It's your boat, it's your decision.

Thanks for all the help

Well, I've gone an ordered the 10 micron filters. I did note that they did not have a UL listed 10 micron filter. I wonder if the factory put the 2 micron filter in for the UL rating or possibly to clean up any debris from new construction.

I did order two so that I have a spare.
