I may have to replace the fresh water pump on my 1984 H27 (depending on the results of my electrical tests). Has anyone found an exact replacement? Mine is mounted under the port side V Berth on the bulkhead dividing the V Berth area and the head area. It is mounted on rubber shock absorbers on the bulkhead. It was working just fine, but now when I flip the switch on the electrical panel, it pulls a load on the electrical (when the engine is running, it noticeably pulls the engine revs down). I checked the wiring on the panel back to the pump, and didn't see anything obvious (shorts). I didn't have my multi-meter with me at the time, so I'll return this week to test it out...

81' H30 Fresh water pump

I replaced the fresh water pump in my 81' H30. The old one was a "ShureFlow" and I replaced it with a ShureFlow of similar size. It was pretty straightforward (2 wires, 2 tubes), and It has worked ever since. Like you, mine would just sit there and cause a voltage drop when I hit the switch. It didn't drop much on mine though. Not that much difference in other pumps.

There is really not a lot of difference with other models/mfg. pumps. They usually have some universal fitting (straight/90's) for adaptive mounting of the water lines. The electrical should be straight forward. One of the new pumps on the market that I have found interesting is the VSD line. http://www.campingworld.com/browse/products/index.cfm?deptID=3&subOf=137,13&prodID=3247 I have had about 3-4 pumps over the last 20 years. They all seem to be okay. Some are noiser than others. These VSD pumps are suppose to be VERY quite.

I have installed one of the pumps Steve

0n my H34 and it is the best, quietest, most powerful, most economical(on sale at CampingWorld presently) I have ever had. The variable speed is the only way to go. No need for a useless accumulator tank, no cycling. It is the only pump to have regardless of boat size.

Thanks for the recommendation Ron.

Ron: Thank you for the recommendation. I looked at these pumps last year and had decided to get one. I really wanted some feedback from someone with a real life experience.

Thanks for the help

Thanks for the help! I'll jot down the model information of my old pump and try to match it up with one of the units shown on the Camping World web site...
