My Vega has a pair of old-size Lewmar 8 winches with 8-point star sockets (approx 7/8 inches 2.2cm from point to opposite point).
See attached photo link.

Unfortunately the handle was lost overboard recently and I'm finding it difficult to source a replacement as modern winch sockets are slightly larger.
If anyone has a handle of this type that they are willing to sell I'd be very interested to hear from you: john DOT kinsella AT ul DOT ie
Any other suggestions for sourcing a replacement also very welcome.
Thanks,

Just ordered two from a French company Auclairnautic based in Spain:

(I was advised by Lewmar in England to contact Auclairnautic as Lewmar no longer make the "old size" handles.)

I'll report here when I receive the replacement handles.

Two winch handles arrived and fit my old Lewmar 8 winches perfectly.

Friendly efficient service.

Hi John. Good to hear that that is an option as I think my lewmar winches are of a similar age. Out of interest were they lock in winches? And were they much more than an equivalent winch?

Hi Jeremy.

They are non-locking handles. About Euro80 each and very nicely made so I'll not let my crew use them.. :)
