Our 1979 C30 has a pressurized alcohol stove made by Galley Maid. My current stove/oven does not work and I am in the process of getting it going again. I have some concerns after reading several discussions on the dangers for flair ups from this type of system. Does anyone know of an upgrade from alcohol to propane that I could retro-fit my current stove/oven or where I could purchase a reasonably priced new stove/oven unit ? Thanks for all the help ! Ain't cheap

Upgrading to propane isn't cheap nor is it easy. You have to follow proper installation methods

Cost

You can figure the cost of a propane installation at the cost of the stove (check the catalogs) $450 or so to cover the cost of the tank

Harbor freight tools

Go to harborfreight.com and search for propane stoves, they have two excellent inexpensive stoves that will fit where needed.

Be Careful

Be careful using products not designed for marine use. Among other things Marine propane stoves have an automatic thermocouple shut-off that shuts off the burner if the flame goes out or if the burner is accidentally turned on without bein lit. I don't know about the Harbor Freight stoves and what safety features they have. Don't get me wrong, I like Harbor Freight, my son-in-law works for them. You're in freshwater, so you won't have to worry as much about corrosion resistance as you would in a salt water environment. You might want to check out RV stoves as well.
