Replacement Engine M-405

The Perkins M-50 on my 1995 M-405 (modified Oceanis 400) is at the end of its useful life. Perkins no longer makes the engine. Has anyone replaced a Perkins M-50 with a similar Yamaha or other marine diesel, and were there any specific issues to be aware of? Beneteau offers no guidance.

Seadog; your '95 m-50 is at the end of its useful life??? how many hours are on it? My '94 m-50, in an OC400, with about 1700 hours, is still a baby. you should get 15 thousand hours from that engine and if anyone told you otherwise, you should get a second opinion!
