I need to replace the cabin cushions. Is this a "do it yourself" job? If not, where would I go have this done?

Cabin Cushions

Hi Jay, I have a 1984 O'Day 25. I just received a quote to have the cushions replaced for $1375. This included C Grade foam and cloth cover. I do not know how good you are at sewing, my wife is good and did not want to do it, and she quilts all the time. I think it was just she did not have enought time to do it. Their might be some patterns out their that would be helpful. EJ Tews Jeanifer Lea

Canvas work? Try the Amish!

On my Mariner I received quotes for new cockpit cushions from Bottomsiders for the better part of a thousand dollars, around $400 from a local boat canvas shop and the boat is now in an Amish canvas shop for two cockpit cushions, two vee-berth cushions, a cockpit cover and a sail cover for a total price of $650. How's that? Marine stores use the Amish and do over a 100% markup on their costs. The Amish that worked for the Marine Stores would not work for an individual but I did find a shop that would. Workmanship is superior as is the material. If there are amish in your neck of the woods, you might want to give this a try.
