I need to find a replacement bulb for the steaming light of our 41DS. The bulb (image attached) has a 15mm bayonet base with offset index pins and two terminals. The glass envelope is approximately 1" in diameter and the overall length is about 2-1/2". The bulb has no wattage marking but does have these markings:

SM 4K
NK Lantern
12V 18cd

The local chandlery pointed me to the Ancor #521158 which is a 10W bulb having similar dimensions. There was another Ancor bulb with a 25W rating with the same dimensions.

I assume that the "18 cd" marking on the original bulb refers to a luminous output of 18 candela but I can't find any technical data on the Ancor #521158 regarding its luminous output.

I have looked through the Hunter manuals trying to find bulb information but have found none. Does anyone have tips on how to determine a proper replacement bulb for the steaming light?

Are the pins directly opposite to each other or is one higher than the other? The latter would be a 1057-1157 base Type. would advise now that you have the chance to replace the bulb with an LED one. It will last much longer, it will be brighter and it will be of lower wattage than your circuit may be rated for.

The bayonet pins are offset like they are on two filament automotive bulbs, e.g. 1157.

I was at the boat today and I decided to take a look at the bow nav light. It has one bulb with red/green lenses. The bulb is the same size/shape as the steaming light bulb and it is marked 30W.

It would seem to me that the steaming light probably should be the same wattage (as opposed to the 10W bulb recommended by the chandlery).
