I need to find a source for a 12 volt, wedge-base bulb for the cabin lights in our 1988 Catalina 30. The original bulb bears the number ?906J6(first digit or letter is illegible). No one around here seems to have it. Anyone know this bulb or a source for them? Thanks, Gary Kunkel

Bulbs

Bulbs can be tricky to replace, as the previous owner of the boat may have replaced the fixture. Best to remove the bulb and go shopping with it: West Marine, local chandlery, electrical supply house, etc. Check some of the other bulbs in the cabin and see if they give you any more clues (i.e. wattage). Besides rating, you'll need to match up the pins with a replacement to ensure it will fit (and determine if they are halogen or incandescent). Sorry I don't have contact information for any local electrical stores for you. If you can't find a store to do some comparison shopping, you could make some phone calls (include dimensions). West Marine electrical link below. Best of luck, Trevor

Try home depot..

Gary, I think you are talking about the lights on the port and starboard sides over the settees. I have an '88 C-30 (5367) and I just added red bulbs to that fixture. Go to the low voltage lighting section and you will find them. I spent several years looking for the red bulbs at West and Boat US and found them at Home Depot for $3 for two bulbs. HTH. Dave B. Thanks everyone

Thanks for the great suggestions. I did finally find the bulbs after learning that the only part of the number that really matteredd was the 906. The bulb is commonly available at RV or Auto parts places and only rarely at marine outlets. Anyway, all lights are now back on and working well.
