Hi,

I just bought a hunter 31 at the end of summer. The wall liner is some kind of carpet and it smells like old socks! I think it might have got wet in the past. I want the smell gone and so I wish to replace it, but it seams to be difficult to remove. As anyone got some advise on how to remove all this without spending days at it?

Thanks for your help!

I peeled the carpet off my H30 which left the nasty foam still attached. I peeled off the loose parts and then took my angle grinder with a wire brush attachment and made fast work getting the foam off. A little messy but that's what vacuums are for.......wear eye protection and a mask since it flies off in small pieces. I reckon you could use a wire brush by hand but would take longer.

I did my mildew infested liner and used a rotary sander which has a vacbag. Did not take that long using 80 grit. As mentioned, wear a mask. It is a struggle to remove. I pulled and used a painter scraper to seperate the old carpet from the fg - sliding the scraper as if I was scraping paint. I finished it off using the mentioned sander to remove the old adhesive.

If you are replacing with wall carpet, sailbrite sells it. I used 3M spray adhesive. Be sure you have mastered your leaks and drips before replacing!

Good luck.
