I just got a 1976 O'Day 27 and I need to get A mast and all the rigging for the boat. I recently got a reply from a boat owner selling a mast and boom along with 3 sails from a 1980 Hunter 30. He seems to think that I can use this mast for my O'day 27. Does this sound right? Also, is there any one out there that might be able to point me in the right direction in order to find a mast and the rigging for an Oday 27? Thanks, Brian

Give Rudy a call

Brian, Call Rudy Nickerson at D & R Marine. Rudy has all the parts for O'Days and is quite knowledgeable about these boats, having worked for that company. He owns all the molds and has built these boats. I'm confident that he can steer you in the right direction. Joe

do you have the old spar??

If you have the old mast, look at the shapr. Somewhere on the boom (if you have it) should be a manufacturers name (O'DAy used Isomat and Kenyon) If Rudy doesn't know (Highly doubtfull as he knows EVERYTHING!!!) then try giving RigRite (In Warwick RI) a call as they make Kenyon and Isomat replacement spars.....

do you have the old spar??

At this point I have the boat and the sails. The mast, boom, and rigging was transfered over to another ODay 27 that the previous owner had. I have left messages with both Rig Right and Rudy so I seem to be on the right track. Thanks for the feed back I can see this web site is going to be a great tool to use for getting my boat ready to launch next summer.

Dwyer Mast

The mast on my 22 was made by Dwyer Mast. They are an oddity in the world of old sailboats as they are still in business. They have many, many extrusions and all of the fittings and miscellanea. I have found that there is no difference in price between Rudy and ordering from them directly. Might want to check them out if Rudy doesn't have what you need (I second Mike though, that is doubtful). www.dwyermast.com Josh
