replace dome light in aft birth of hunter 260

I need to replace the bulb inside of the dome light in my aft birth but I want be sure not to damage the unit. Do you remove the plastic globe only or the complete unit from the ceiling to access the bulb? Can someone tell me how to disassemble? Thanks.

Tim,the clear plastic lens snaps into the beige or ivory colored housing. Use a small common screwdriver or a butter knife to probe the slot between the lens and the housing. Good luck,Steve

Thanks Steve,I suspected that would be the case but I was reluctant to pry without knowing for sure. Dome light assemblies always seem to be a little fragile and I didn't want to crack it. I'll give it a try tonight.Tim

Go to West Marine

You know, you could go to a West Marine store and just ask them, since you have to buy a new bulb anyway. Most of WM employees are boaters too. They can show you how a new unit is put together, assuming your unit is a bit old and the lens may be stuck to the housing's mounting collar.
