REPLACE BUNK BOARDS FOR TRAILER

Have not had my 23.5 on the trailer for over a year. Went to pick it up and noticed the front 12 inches of one of the bunks has a distorted curl in it. The curl is so severe I fear it will damage the hull if I put the boat on the trailer. Any step by step hints on replacing it? For instance, treated or untreated wood? How do I go about getting the board to bend so dramatically along its length while twisting laterally? Would like to tend to this ASAP since hurricane season is just around the corner and when we evacuate... the wife, the cats and the boat all go with me. Cheers! Bruce Little S/V Cherokee Lullaby

Replace the bunk boareds

I've never had to replace mine yet Bruce, but I think that I would use the P/T wood for longer life. If you have access to a lift, I feel it'd be easier to gently set the boat down on the new bunks before fastening them to the uprights. This way you automatically get the correct bend & twist for full hull contact. If you pull the boat out yourself on a ramp, then just install new wood on the uprights, fastening the center one first, and the fore & aft ones last to achieve the proper bend. Don't worry though... no hurricanes this year (we hope!).
