I have a Seaward 17 with a bowsprit roller that needs replacement. There is an aluminum rail attached with screws that wraps around the bowsprit. I'm thinking it has to be removed in order to remove the roller axle. Am I on the right track?
Yep, the rail needs to come off. You might want to think about how to preserve the wood or find a new piece. Also, don't use a trailer roller for a replacement if you can avoid it. The rubber is softer on a trailer roller and the chain and anchor rode will tear it up.
