I had occasion to check the bilge and I noticed again a lot of cracks in that thwartship support that the compression post sits on. This fall when I unstep the mast I thought I'd take a shot at making repairs. It seemed to me that if I removed those four bolts at the top you still wouldn't be able to get it out, and then there would be the issue of getting it back in after the repairs are made. Has anyone ever done this repair?
