Repairing or Replacing Fuel Guage

Fuel Guage inoperative. Are there any manauls or instructions as to replacing. Assumption is that sensor or operating part of guage fouled or corroded. Thanks. Nick Craig

Nick; Make sure it's the sender and not the wiring. With the key on, short the terminals on the sender together; the gauge needle should peg to max. If that works, it probably is the sender. I had to replace the one in my '94. Remove the old one from the top of the tank and take it to West Marine. They will have a generic one. You need to set it up so that it matches your old one. Not too hard. Re-install and you're good to go.
