repair time!

Hola!I hope everyone is having fun! I am looking for someone to shed a little light on a few problems I am noticing with my 0D25. First, the gudgeon bolts are very rusty and appear to be slightly pulling through. Second, the bolts for our motor mount are also rusty and two of them are begining to pull through the washers. Next, I have orderd a new chain plate for my standing rigging. How do I replace this? Finally, I have noticed that two of my stantions are showing signs of leaking which has caused some damage to the interior. Is my boat dying? Which should I replace first? If anyone can help please let me know. If the gudgeon bolts need to be replaced can I use something from the hardware store? Should I use a piece of metal or wood as a support for the back of the motor mount. Anyway, I would appreciate the feedback.

Stainless!!

Whatever bolts you use, make sure that they are stainless so they wont rust again.

I also have replaced the same hardware. Any bolts that are passing water can be a major problem. The gungeon and motor mount bolts pass thru the hull in an area that has a wood core so water leaking in can rot it. I removed mine, over drilled the holes and dug out any rotted wood that I could. I then refilled the holes with epoxy, then redrilled the holes. I did remount with 3/4 inch hardwood backing to distribute the "pull" over a larger area. Caulk everything with poly.Remove the stantions and chech the deck to see if it is "spongy" wich can mean the glass is delaminating. If it seems relatively hard, caulk with poly and remount. Check the inside of all your deck mounted hardware to see if there is any rust or leaks and fix in the same manner. Replace anything that has any rust at all with stainless and don't over tighten.When using poly, apply, and lightly tighten hardware. Wait for the poly to stiffen (24hrs?) and then tighten the rest of the way. This method allows the poly to make a "gasket" that you squeeze tight with the final tourque.Hope this helpsRic"comes a time"Amherst, NH
