Hello all This question was prompted by some discussion on a eariler thread. I have a H26 that has a couple bits of damage. One is where the bow roller had chiped off the gelcoat in a few places. There is an area of about a 1/2 inch square that needs to be fixed. Second last fall when visiting a lake near a friends house we pulled in an over night slip and snagged a dock tie down cable that had broken from it tie down and gotten wrapped around a piling. The left a few small gouges in the leading edge of the rudder. What would be the best way to go about fixing these. Thanks Jason

Damage Repair

Jason, There are several ways to attack this repair. The basic idea is to re-seal the rudder since it's foam. As follows: 1) Let the rudder dry for awhile since there surely must have been water intrusion. 2) Use either Marine-Tex or epoxy to cover/seal the area. (I personally like Marine Tex: easy to use and I'm comferatable with the cure rate. 3) Fair the area smooth 4) Put antifouling paint or a barrier paint coat. Good Luck, /Chuck S/V Windsongs H23
