Repainting a dink hull

We have a new-to-us dink, which is a non-distinct wood sailing dink. It has some cracks in the hull that are letting in water, but had a fresh coat of a very effective black dull anti fouling paint over the nice gray hull paint. I have sanded down the bottom and have been applying fiberglass patches, over which I intend to apply a full layer of fiberglass.

When the time comes, over the next week or so, I need to repaint the whole hull, then apply anti fouling paint below the waterline. I’m looking for recommendations as to which paints to use for each. This is for warm saltwater environment if the Caribbean.

Thanks for your thoughts.

While a little unorthodox, instead of just painting the hull, why not coat the whole thing in a nice barrier coat of ip2000e. Not only will it look nice, it'll be a functional nice look, and you'll likely never have to do it again.

If you glass this boat I have a feeling it will become significantly heavier, which could cause it to lose functionality. Perhaps you might just patch it and play with it until a better sailing dinghy comes along and then give it to an island kid, or sell it.

I'd paint the entire hull with an epoxy paint like Brightside, or even spend a little more and a two part epoxy like Perfection. Then... I'd find the least expensive bottom paint for below the waterline. It's very easy to slap on maintenance coats when you don't have to pay for haul out.
