I would like to hear from someone that has repainted their hull. I have a H30-77. The hull is in good shape it's just dull. It's beige right now but I would like to redo it to a nice dark blue. Navy or something similar. What I would like to know is how much trouble am I getting myself into. Some people I talk to shudder at the prospect others take it in stride. Is it that bad? I'm not sure if I want to spray or roll I have heard good and bad about both. Any and all help would be greatly accepted. Greig

Interlux Brightside Poly

Several years ago I repainted my 25 ft using Interlux Brightside Polyurethane. We were very pleased with the results and only took a few weekends worth of time. After preping the boat per the interlux instructions the new paint was applied with a Wagner Paint Sprayer. We acheived a very high gloss with only two light coats. One thing we learned is that after spraying while the paint is still wet use a foam brush and lightly backbrush to feather out the paint. This provides a very smooth finish. We saved a significant amount of money and were very happy with the results. Marc

I did the same to my 23 footer a couple of years

ago.. I used marine grade small cell foam roller. The trick is the preparation. - I sanded out the boat with 220 grit wet/dry sandpaper - masked...use high quality masking tape or you'll be sorry... -make sure you roll in one direction -not back a forth. You must then top off or smooth out the paint with a foam brush. YOu need to do a section at a time. Mine came out great. I have friends that have used the two part system with a roller and brush using the same technique. They said that you need two people...one to roll and the other to follow with the top off.
