Aloha Kakou!
I just returned to Hawaii from a terrific trip that included a
visit with the Albin Cruisers at their Rendezvous in Jamestown RI and
culminated with the Vega Rendezvous at Lopez Island WA.
The Albin Cruisers had 9 boats including our own David Sylvia who
graciously put us up at his home for one evening. Details in the
next newsletter.
On our way back home we stopped in Seattle and were picked up by
Jim and Gloria Elder, Wren V1838, with their boat on a trailer. They
hauled Wren all the way from Ashland OR to Anacortes WA where we
spent one night after a little adventure stepping the mast and
getting the boat in the water.
In the morning we had a fine sail to Lopez Island where we joined
seven other Vegas plus one Albin 25 and one West Wight Potter sailed
by Ken Preston, a new Vega owner that is planning to go pick up his
Vega in Mexico later this season. There were also three Vega crews
that came without their boats to join the fun. Brian and Diana
Hofler arrived just as the sun was going down and Laura got a really
nice photo of Lyra and crew arriving.
The really cool thing about Rendezvous '02 is that, including the
crews who came without their boats, there were eight NEW Vegas
represented that did not attend last year plus one Albin 25 and the
AVA picked up several new members! It was great to see Judy, Ken,
Mitzi and Bear waiting for us when we arrived but the really exciting
thing was all the new faces. We missed everyone who couldn't make it
but we expect to see them all next year.
Rendezvous '03 is tentatively planned for Bedwell BC, dates TBA.
Stay tuned.
Aloha,
