Hi All, I have a Renault RC8D manufactured April '79 in my 1980 H27. I need to replace the water line between the pump outlet and the tee that splits off to the block and the bypass. Most of the hose is 3/8" with appropriate fittings, but I can't get the replacement 3/8 reinforced hose I'm trying to use over the water pump outlet. I've not been able to find hose in this dimension that isn't reinforced (it's fuel line) and the old hose was just kinda mushed over the outlet. 1. Anyone else had this problem? I'm sure most of this stuff has been replaced by now. What kind of hose did you use and where'd you get it? Anyone know the actual dimensions of the pump outlet? 2. I'm considering pulling the fitting at the block and trying to get a larger diameter inlet. Anyone know what thread dimensions that thing is or considered a similar replacement? Thanks a bunch, Tom Milke

Need a specialist.

I think that you need to talk to someone who specializes in Renault repair. One company that advertises having parts and the Lehman service manual is in the Related Link. Another option is to search the Forum Archives. I recall that there was a Texas company mentioned here on HOW. But it has probably been two or three years ago. Found it, from 1999: "For Renault call 281-339-1465, "Renault Marine Diesel", in Texas."

further info...

Thanks, Ed, for the info. I got this reply from them "THATS ABOUT ALL I STOCK - IMPELLERS AND FUEL FILTERS - BUT MOST CAN BE PURCHASED - ALTHOUGH BY NO CHOICE OF OURS - RENAULT PARTS ARE WAY OUT AS FAR AS PRICING GOES - AN IMPELLER IS 44.00 - IT;S THE IMPORT TAX THAT GETS US - BUT WE HAVE EM - LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ANY" - JAY Also I ended up replacing the hoses with a combination of 1/2" and 7/16" hose and the engine ran at about 180 on the way out and about 130 on the way back in. Both were big improvements. Tom Milke
