I am restoring a 1979 '27. In addition to all of the issues I have, the Renault RC8D is in pieces. We cannot figure out if there was an initial problem that initiated the tear down or if someone was just courious. I have to decide if I want to rebuilt the Renault or put in a Yanmar 2GM. If the readers have opinions or experience, I would like to hear about it.. Thanks..

If this is a true restoration are you allowed an option? I thought the serial numbers had to match.
There was a source of Renault parts in Texas somewhere as I recall. But if you want to sail and occasionally safely motor home then I would opt for the 2GM. Money no object that is.
