I took alt. to old time auto garage/electical shop. "Old timer" owner tested my alt. and found to be beyond repair. He matched up an of the shelf Delco that had a bolt patern somewhat close. He found a pulley of approx. same diam. and machined it to fit. Over all the assembly is about 25% bigger and bulkier. He reduced the plug-in connection from built in voltage regulator/exciter to a single wire. Mounting involves placing unit on lower engine mount bracket and "eye balling" pulley and top bracket inline to accomodate belt in straight line. You will need an assortment of washers and bolts to act as spacers in order to accomplish this. You will find that there is more then one combination of positions that will work. The new alt. has two bosses that are through holed and one threaded metric. for a total of three mounting "ears" of different thickness. I had no trouble finding a happy medium and still have adequate belt tensioning room. In my case unit when taught is within about 2 inches of engine cover side. Electric: wire from voltreg/exc. goes to ignition toggle and output cabble + goes to starter cabble in series back to battery +. To prevent rpm drop at low engine speed turn of ignition toggle alt. has no load rpm goes up. Will be happy to discuss further
