I have a damaged windvane at the top of my mast and would like to remove it without taking the mast down. Any ideas? I have a Catalina 27. Thanks.

Get a bos'n chair and have someone crank you to the top of the mast, or you crank someone else to the top of the mast, or, hire your local sailboat service department to go up for you.
My marina has a tower to use for such maneuvers, usually with a bosun's chair. Somebody sells a rope/ladder contraption you pull up the main and then climb up, but I've never actually seen one used.
