On an earlier post I asked about Cutlass bearing replacement. A friend just did it on his boat, an Oday, not Hunter but he could not get the shaft out without removing the strut he has a keg rudder. That turned into a nightmare. Can I get the shaft out of an H31 1984 without dropping the rudder?
Thanks

Hi Keith,
I have the same year H31 with the deep draft and just replaced my cutlass bearing last year and I did remove the rudder because of some work that needed to be done to that but I understand that you can take the motor mounts loose, raise the engine, remove the prop and take it out that way. I have not tried this but it sounds like a good idea. While you are doing this you might want to install a PSS drippless shaft log, I did and love it. Hope this helps
Tim.

I have one

Actually I am doing a rebuild on my Drip less since I am taking the shaft out I ordered the new bellows and O rings. They don't need it yet it was installed in 04 but preventive maintenance is always good. Thanks for the response.
Keith
