I NEED TO HAVE MY SPEED TRANSDUCER SENT BACK TO RAYTHEON FOR A WHEEL AND SHAFT REPAIR. THE PROBLEM IS IT'S WIRE. I CAN FOLLOW IT THROUGH THE FLOORING THEN LOOSE IT. IS THERE A CONNECTION SOMEWHERE IN THE LINE OR DOES IT RUN STRAIGHT THROUGH TO THE SPEED INDICATOR IN THE COCKPIT? ANY IDEAS.

cut the wire

Seams to me that Raytheon said it was O.K. to cut and resplice the wire. Seams easier then removing. Double check and call Raytheon!

Have a Raytheon ST60 Speed Inst...

manual in front of me... 'Raytheon specified cables should be used at all times. Cutting and rejoining these cables can compromise EMC performance and so must be avoided unless doing so is detailed in the installation manual' Check your inst. manual if ST60

ST60 P.S.....

The ST60 has a straight through cable to the instrument. The power fot the instrument is a separate cable...

Good Luck

I replaced the depth transducer this spring. The depth cable runs right next to the speed transducer cable. The cable runs under the floor board up the small cramped race way under the nav table, thru a drilled hole, then behind the closet, up the even more cramped race along the bathroom wall around the front door and then up thru an impossible to reach thru deck fitting. I had to cut the old wire at the transducer and use it to pull the new wire and connector thru this mess, even then, at the thru deck, I had to drill a new hole because I could not get the connector thru the deck thru hole with all the existing wires still in place. Dont even attempt removing the old wire unless you use it to pull a strong cord back thru so you can recable later.
