I'm already thinking about next year, and hope everyone has had a safe summer.
One of the next projects is to take the cabinet (with the sink) and re-formica it. I remember looking at it last spring for a short while and couldn't figure out how to get that little bugger out. Any tips?
As always, thanks in advance!

It's probably held in place with wood screws Kevin. Look for the wood bungs that are hiding the screws that hold the cabinet to the bulkhead and the sole plate. On my 222, I had to remove the sink/stove insert first and I was able to find the screws that held the galley cabinet to the bulkhead. The screws that held the stove compartment to the cabinet also had these special nylon washer type "do-hickeys" with plastic caps on them. All I had to do was pop the plastic cap off and the screw was under it. You may have the same affair on your boat, I really don't know.
Then on the other hand, there may not be any bungs. I think that you're going to have to remove the sink/stove insert first and the screws will be in plain site. At least that's the way mine was set up.

Thanks Joe. I'll really have to get in there and mess around. I was looking at the sink, thinking that may be the gateway to removing the whole structure, but it seems like I dont have access to feel around under it, to remove it. I'll have to take a closer look!

My sink and stove compartment was made up of a molded fiberglass insert that fitted into the top of the galley cabinet and the screws holding it on were located behind these plastic caps near the top inner edge of the sink and stove part of the insert. I have no idea how the O'Day 22s were set up. I've never had the oportunity to check any of them out.
I'm sure if you look hard enough, you're going to find it. They put it in there. There has to be a way to get it out. Good luck with that Kevin!

Hi Kevin,
I will be taking my cabinet and sink apart this winter. Mine is a '74 so we should be similar. It is all plywood with the teak finish. I'm assuming the sink is held in the same way a kitchen sink is attached (with clips that pinch the outer edge to the counter top cutout. I will be attacking it from the center. I will be replacing the entire cabinet and moving the sink to the port side across from the head. I am removing the storage wall and building a cabinet between the V berth and the port bulkhead against the port hull. The cabinet in the main portion of the cabin willl have a solid top and be accessible with a large drawer and a lower door. This is all going to be winter work for me. I'll try to post pictures as I progress. We have to pull her out of the marina by October 15th, so work will commence pretty soon. I have a cutout on the front side of the cabinet under the sink and will be able to access the clips there. Like Joe said "if it went in, it can come out".
