Removing the control tube from the prop....

Whilst removing the combi I forgot to loosen the nut at the back of the prop as per Steve's instruction sheet - I have already given myself a sound thrashing (don't enjoy it as much as I used to!)
I believe it is screwed into the prop boss (normal right hand thread?) so I assume I just need to unscrew it. It seems very tight - any ideas how to grip the control tube without damaging it? Or am I doing something stupid (again)!

ps I have read here that the prop is not electrically connected to the engine so it needs a zinc - where on earth do people fit them?

A propeller needs zinc protection because it is in an electrolyte (salt
water) in the presence of other metal objects that are more noble (drive
shaft normally but also rudder shaft. Most propellers are made of manganese
bronze which has up to 39% zinc. If you do not have a sacrificial zinc the
least noble (anodic) metal becomes the propeller and that gets expensive.
Whether the prop is connected to the engine electrically or not this will
occur as 2 different metals in close proximity in salt water creates a
battery, with a small current flow from one to the other.

Whilst ordering the anode shown in Jack's link I noticed an engine
anode - it says its for the MD6... where on earth does that go? It
is attached to a threaded nut so I guess it screws in somewhere?

I just rechecked my MD6A *Instruction Book* and *Workshop Manual* (such as
it is) and could find no reference to an anode.

I hope I missed it.

I think they are about ?20... they seem to be designed to fit on the
rear of the prop held on by the existing bolt.

I have had a good look all over the engine and I cannot find anything similar to an anode either... weird. The catalogue clearly shows one for the MD6... is it an important bit?

They are about 30 USD. I might consider another option, but this one fits perfectly at the aft end of the prop boss. I remove it once a year to grease and inspect the prop.
