Can someone tell me how to remove the boom from a 1984 Hunter 31? I looked at this weekend and I do not see a pin, I know there has to something to remove at the gooseneck but what?
Thanks
Keith
My 31 had 2 metal clips that locked into a plastic ball in the socket. I removed those and then had to lift the end of the boom up to get it to disconnect. I only had it off once so I might be a little foggy on the removal.
Good luck
I'll second the advice of the previous poster. There are 2 spring clips on each side of the gooseneck. Once you remove them, there are 2 plastic pieces that will come free (don't drop them). They may be a bit sticky if you've used any lubricant on the gooseneck.
The boom has to be raised almost parallel to the mast to align the jaw, then just slip it aft.
OK so I removed the boom yesterday. It came off much easier that I thought it would. However there were no metal clips I just had to raise the boom to about 40 -45 degrees and it slipped out of the two spheres that act as bearings I guess. Can anyone send a picture of the metal clips?
Thanks
Keith
