Goof Off? Goo Gone? Gasoline? Other? Acetone works, but very slowly, and flashes off too fast.If there's an "easy" way, I want to learn now, before I spend a month doing it the hard way.

I'm in the process of doing this. Scraped as much off with a plastic putty knife. Goo gone. Hit it with 80 grit sandpaper. Primer. So far so good...
The fiberglass safe paint stripper works well I got it from Home Depot it was cheaper than West Marine cover with wax paper or cellophane to keep it from drying out too soon still a no-fun job Sent from my iPhone
Try a circular wire brush in an electric drill. It quickly strips away much of the old glue, but in doing so scatters lots of little bits around the area. It helps to have a vacuum cleaner in the vicinity and don't forget to wear a dust mask. This method will expose enough surface to apply fresh adhesive to stick on a new covering. however, it leaves old glue in the little hollows in the woven glass hull surface so may not be sufficient for painting.
