I just finished painting the topsides with Interlux Brigtsides and Interlux Interdeck for the nonskid. The nonskid paint seems to easily scuff. How can I remove the scuff marks without hurting the paint? Many thanks.

Marks be gone

I have found a product sold by ome Hardware in Canada to be very good at removing black marks from decks and fibreglass. Normaly sold as a two pack, a cleaner for deck furniture and a cleaner for barbecues the deck furniture cleaner is available on its own if you ask for it. The product is a liquid.

terminology

topsides is the part of the boat from the waterline to the gunwhale. The part you walk on is the deck.

Try acetone...

...put some on a rag, wipe off the mark then rinse with plain water. I use it to easily remove the dock bumper skid marks from my hull (sorry, John).

What is scuffing your deck? Proper footwear

for the boat will protect your deck surfaces. Deck shoes or sneakers with white soles will make a difference and save you some elbow grease.

3M Polish works well

I have used 3M Polish on gelcoat, it took off black scuff marks (left by guys that worked on the boat)very well. Also, you might try a general cleaning with Scrubbing Bubbles (in your supermarket). That is really amazing stuff, gets rid of a lot of dirt and such.
