Has anyone removed the quarterberth wall on a 1980 27? If so, how did you do it? On inspection it looks like there are screws from the engine compartment side of the wall into the fibreglass. Thanks!

Check the archives.

I posted a Photo Forum Article about how I did that on my Hunter 33. The boats are not all that different.

access

I removed the wall on my '78 h27. Found it to be thin ply. I replaced it with a 1/4" ply covered with a matching padded, plaid material (no reason not to reuse old material if good). . I epoxied wood screw bases to the glass as needed and used beauty washers and screws to make the wall removable for access to driveshaft, muffler stuffing box nuts etc. Goodluck red

Question for Red....

When you removed the wall did you have to undo screws from the engine side of the wall? It looks like there are screws on that side of the wall going into the quarterberth floor. If you did, how did you get in there to remove them?

CRS

CRS "Can't remember s--t" I think there was one screw from engine compartment, accessible when you remove engine overhead access step. I destroyed the original panel and cut a new one to be easily removeable. I added my own new screw bases. These will only be needed along the top of the panel. Used quarter round as lip to create a slot for the base of the panel to set in You won't believe how much easier it will be to work on engine, stuffing box, wiring and accessories. There's a lot of stuff back there you wouldn't normally see or consider working on without this access. Good luck red
