It takes an acrobat to attach and remove the battery and remote start wires. Has anyone mounted any kind of waterproof plugs in the side of the motor compartment? There has to be a better way.
a male/female connector set meant for an electric trolling motor. I've seen 3 or 4 conductor 6 or 8 AWG with or without a bulkhead mount at Cabela's (hunting and fishing stuff). The link doesn't fit it the space alotted, so go to www.Cabelas.com, then under "Store", choose "Boating". Under "Boating", choose "Accessories" from the "Electric Trolling Motors" category.
... the voltage of the starter draw. "Quick disconnect" devices cannot handle the load required to operate a starter. For that you need the security of a bolt on fastener. Just suck it up and doit. It gets easier everytime.
Thanks, I had been thinking about using a connector similar to the one on my Boss snow plow blade lift. Just wondering if anyone else had tried doing it. Seemed like a logical step rather than crawling in the compartments under the rear birth.
I also installed a good quality trolling motor plug and socket on two sailboats so far for the outboard motor. It has worked great. I checked the amperage ratings and it was within limits for the 9.8 Nissan 2 stroke starter motor. It is great for removal and for keeping a watertight connection through the aft bulkhead. I sealed the wires entering the plug assembly with silicone.
