I wanted to thank Steve dion for posting his article in the photo forum (see link below) on how to remove old pin stripes. I picked up the Stripe Eraser from http:\www.handsontools.com for $9.00 + S&H. As Steve suggested, I used my electric drill and I removed all of the striping and the sad-looking registration numbers on a 20' boat in less than an hour. If you're going to remove stripping, you have to get one of these Stripe Erasers from Astro Pneumatic. The disk rubs (erases) the lines right off. The old vinyl simply crumbles away and the underlying surface is left untouched. Thanks again for the post Steve!

My pleasure!

Chip: I tried using a hair dryer and heat gun to remove the old stripes on the the cabin. They had baked on and were about as tough as anything around. I used the "eraser" and they were gone quickly and easily. I would recommend this process for everyone. I picked up this tip here on the HOW site. The best damn site on the web for sailboats.
