I am in progress of selling my boat and buying another. What is the best way to remove name decals without damaging the gel coat? Is scraping or peeling the way to go or is there some solution that will make it easiest to remove?.

getting rid of letters

Hi i had the same problem and what i did was to use a hair dryer on high and the vinal letters peal right off with the aid of a flat razor blade.

Removal

I do what Capt Don suggests...then use acetone (very carefully) on the residue if there is any.

No muss, no blades, no heat ...

... no chemicals; get an "eraser" wheel from an auto paint supplier, chuck it in the variable speed drill and rub the decal off. I've removed decals and sripes effortlessly.
