Removing diesel air heater on B36CC

Has anyone removed, repaired or replaced the diesel cabin heater on a B36CC?
My heater is not working correctly and I would like to remove so that I may either repair or replace it. The problem I am seeing is getting into that space where it is mounted. I imagine the location is specific from one model to the next, so I would like to hear from anyone with a 36CC.
I have been told that these heaters build up carbon and need cleaning from time to time.
I believe the manufacture of this heater is Volvo.

I didn't realize they were a standard item. I've removed the ducts but not the heating unit itself. Actually this winter I've considered trying to get the thing to work but in reality I don't need it as I use the reverse cycle heater. Sorry. Not much help. Espar unit.
