My slide was cracked when my boom fell on it. How do you remove it, what catches it from just pulling it straight out? 1986 28.5 Hunter

If it is built like mine, there is a wooden slat screwed to the top that catches the lip of the stationary piece. From inside there is likely some screw heads that you can get to. If you don't see them, they might be hidden by the slat that is on the inside (underneath)
On the 28.5... does the companionway hatch "pop up"? On my H26 it does and in the "popped up" position, I can get the sliding plexiglass out from under the hood and get the catch past the lip. Then I can lift it out. It is heavier than you might think and the hood will not be able to stay up while you pull out the plexi... so have a second set of hands helping out our you will lose some skin and go home with a bruise or two.
