I have an Oday 30 and I need to replace the outhaul line/braided this is connected inside the boom. I thought the line would be connected directly to the wire cable that attaches to the sail but it loops around a pulley which is connect to the wire and the other end of the braided line must be tied to something at the gooseneck inside the boom. When looking at the gooseneck where it connects to the mast I don't see a bolt or pin of any kind to remove to separate the boom from the mast. There are two snap rings, one on either side of the gooseneck, which I suppose have something to do with removing the boom but I am concerned about trying to remove them for fear they will go flying and I might not be able to easily replace them. I'm hoping someone can advise me on how you remove the boom and whether that will provide access to the outhaul braided line tied off on the inside.

Boom removal

I assume you have an Isomat mast and boom. Try this: Release the mainsheet and vang to where you can lift the aft end of the boom up to about a 45 degree angle. You should then be able to just easily slide the boom off the gooseneck. If you ever need to replace the 2 spring clips you can get them from rigrite, or I think Rudy at D&R carrys them. Please let me know how the outhaul replacement works out. I think I should do mine and don't know how it is attached internally. Thanks

Great Info Thanks

Thanks Richard the info and links you provided are great. I will be going to the boat Saturday and will try removing the boom following your directions. Looking at the pictures of the gooseneck parts I'm sure my mast is an Isomat. I think I might have to drill out the pop rivets and remove the gooseneck to get to the line inside. However I get to it I will post the results for all. Thanks again.
