My son and I decided to attempt resurrecting a 1984 O'Day Daysailer. No doubt we'll have numerous questions along the way but the first one that has come up regards the swing keel rigging. How easy is it to remove and replace the swing keel? What is the configuration of the rigging inside the box? How durable are the components? I once lost the pennant on a very heavy 1/2" steel plate swing keel and, with the keel hanging down, I couldn't get to my dock. The second reason for removing the keel is that we plan to invert the hull to address repairs to a bad deck joint and a hull crack.
