In the process of removing a bow pulpit from a 1989 C25 the head came off one of the bolts. Two questions. 1. How can I get the bolt out? 2. Are there any backing plates that these bolts go into and if so, how do I get to them? Does anyone have any suggestions to make this job go easier.

I would spray a bunch of PB Blaster on it and let it sit for a day or so. Then use an Easy-Out to slowly try and remove it. You can buy them at most hardware stores or online at McMaster-Carr.

Its funny you mention the bow pulpit. I had to repair my outer bent edge of our bow pulpit where it got caught on a piling at out marina during a recent storm surge. I can testify that on a C 30 it is very solid. I had to heat the outer S.S. rail with a blow torch to straighten it. Even after getting it red hot at the corners I had to beat it with a padded sledge hammer to get it straight again. I reckon I'll have to rebed the base stanchion posts now that it was torqued so hard. Fix one thing, break another.

If some of the bolt shank is "proud" I find a big pair of toothed water pump pliers will work well or a small pipe wrench.
If it's flush an easy out maybe your only option, try for a big one, I've snapped a few.

Does the C25 not have an access panel inside the bow, like the 22, to gain access to the bottom of those bolts, and the bow eyebolt?
