I want to clean the interior depths of the Keel and was looking for some input on how to do this. Sounds like a good winter project.

I found this site that has some photoes:

Taking the tank out

Makes it look easy. I wonder how much junk is down there chafing on the fuel tank?

I removed the fuel tank a couple years ago. It was not easy. However, others on the forum have removed the tank with little effort. So, you may not know until you get started. Our tank was sitting on a fiberglass support, like a u shaped piece, about 6 inches off the bottom on the bilge. So you may not have to worry much about things chafing. However, if you dropped your favorite screwdriver down there then perhaps it's worth removing.

After I reinstalled the empty tank, I wrote down (somewhere) how much of the floating dipstick projected for each gallon of diesel I put in.
I just pumped out the tank for the winter, so when I refill it, I will note the rise of the dipstick with each gallon added and write it on the tank.
Actually, I will probably write down how many useable gallons are left for various dipstick heights. -Tim

Tim, I put a very small dot of red fingernail polish at each gallon added. now I have to pull up the rod and count all the dots sometimes to see how much more to go. -Bruce

Hi bruce,
Search old posts. I have posted a recipe for removing the tank. Search for posts with groundhog or groundhogyh.
