I am about to install Tides Marine Track and slide system. It turns out that the gate is to small to insert the Tides Marine track into the sailtrack. So after looking at it, it seems as though if I remove the bottom screw of the sailtrack and pull it out a bit, the track will slide effortlessly into the track. I removed the bottom screw from the track and I could not get the track to move. Is there something else holding the tack to the mast? I may have to cut a longer and wider gate for the track to go in.... I was told to use a dremel and some WD-40, anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks
Jon

Jon,

This may not help you for your specific mast, but when I added the Tides track to my sailboat I had to cut the opening in the mast larger. I think that the installation instructions suggest that enlargement may be necessary in some cases. After the Tides track is inserted, it is pulled down just a bit to cover the enlarged opening.

I agree with Rick. When I installed the Tide Track on my 1989 35.5 I made the opening longer and it worked great. Just follow the instructions and be sure to cleanup all sharp edges before you start feeding the track.
