My 86 Citation is powered by a Yanmar 3GM30f which is under the sink in the galley. It looks like it is glassed in along with the refig-freezer, sink and the back of the settee. The diesel started leaking oil in front of the block, but I can't pin point exactly where it is coming from. Question, has anyone had this problem and how did you fix it? Also has anyone taken the diesel out off your Irwin Citation? It doesn't look easy, does it have to be cut out or the sink removed or does it come out through the opening under the settee cushins? Thanks

Remove diesel from Citation 38

I've got a 1986 model Citation 38 which I've owned for just over two months now. The fellow who owned it before me replaced the engine, and to do so he cut the center post between the two doors under the sink to get it out. After the new engine was in, he repaired the post by putting wood joiners behind the cuts, and screwing it together. It is not very noticable. Good luck, Don W.

Any idea how many hours were on the old Yanmar before repowering?

3GM30

Hi Tim, I believe that the old engine had siezed due to sitting for a long time. It was raw water cooled, and its possible that the zincs were gone. I did not see the original engine, so can't comment on the hours other than to say that the boat had not been run much for the last six or seven years before replacement
