I have a 1993 Hunter 23.5. It came with a large multicolored "swoosh" on the hull. Over time fenders and tie-down straps from trailering have nicked it up. I would like to take it off completely. would also like to remove the original decal stripes that run the length of the hull. Any tricks for easy removal? Thanks

Heat gun

I asked the same question on the same boat recently. I was told to try a heat gun. Also suggested was a rubber wheel for your drill called a "stripe off" wheel, made by 3M. I just ordered the wheel, it was $25. I was told directly by 3M that this wheel will make minced meat of the graphics with no harm whatsoever to the gelcoat. I'll be trying it in the next week or so, so I'll post back and let ya know.

Ditto heat gun

I used a heat gun to remove the stripes from my boat. It worked well, didn't damage the gel coat.

Once again ...

... I must recommend the rubber wheel. I used it to remove all the faded stripes from my 26.5 and it worked quickly with no mess. The trick is a variable speed drill because the wheel works best spinning slowly. It doesn't faze the gelcoat. There's little or no cleanup and no danger of blistering your hull.

I plan to use the 3M rubber wheel

I bought a 3M rubber wheel off of Ebay. I plan to use it on my H22. I hope it works. I'd be interested in hearing anyone's experience with the rubber wheel.
