Remove bedding for side window on Hunter 30-2

I need to pull out a side window on my Hunter 30-2. What is the best tool to use to remove the existing bedding caulk. I prefer no to scratch up the gelcoat, but have not seen any solvent that would do the trick.

Following. I had a small leak in one so I tried to remove it. Spent over an hour cramming razor blades every which way and it didn't even loosen.

Ended up just slathering the whole circumference, in and out, with sealant. Not ideal.

Thanks for the reply. That is what I have done and it looks poor. At least I am not alone.

I replaced all the windows on my 1993 Hunter 37.5, including the hull side windows. I bought a special wire garrote like device designed specially to cut through the sealant, but it didn't work well. I finally bought thin metal putty knives that I could push through the sealant from the inside. That released the window, then I could clean up the residue mostly with careful use of a razor blade, then install the home made new windows. By the way, the plexiglass was only 1/4" thick.
