Hello to everybody, i have an oceanis 381 and i want to use a removable forestay and a staysail when i sail with more than 25 Kn of wind. Has anyone experience how to fix the forestay in a boat like mine?? P.S. Sorry for my english but i'm italian!!

removeable forestay

Fabrizio, the best advice I can give you would be to get a really GOOD rigger to go over the boat with you to see if it is even possible. Good luck Charlie

Storm sail

Fabrizio, Have you considered a sleeve type storm sail? The sail is mounted via a sleeve around the furled genoa and hoisted via a spinnaker halyard or other spare halyard. Considerably less expensive. Normally sized at about 40% of 110% genoa. Jon McClain

Jon, has a good point

I am not sure what additional stresses you would be by adding an additional forestay to the boat. That is why I suggested taht you talk to a good rigger. I think ATN makes the storm sail that Jon is talking about. Charlie

Storm sail

Thanks for the replies, i saw on the net the atn storm sail but i think that is not so easy to hoist with lot of wind. If you see the video you will notice that test is done on a multihull without wind and waves!! I often sail alone and i think it's more easy to prepare the inner stay when the wind is not too strong and then close the rolled yankee and hoist the staysail or the storm sail.... But i'm not sure!!!
