Does anybody have remote throttle/shift on their Hunter 23 outboard? I got a VERY good deal on a '97 Honda 8HP outboard, but the throttle control handle was busted in half, so rather than replacing the OEM part, I Ebay'd a used US Marine remote throttle/shift and have it all set up on the engine (in my basement). The next task is to figure out where the remote and cables will go in the boat. Anybody ever done this on a 23 and have pictures possibly? :)

I have no answer for you, but I am curious as to where you end up putting this. Post pictures when you're done!

If its not too intrusive, perhaps on the tiller? Otherwise, I'd probably put it mounted sideways on the transom.

I love to take photos, so I will be sure to post them when the installation is complete. Hopefully the snow is done here in Michigan and the boat projects can start in the next couple weeks, I have a whole stack of stuff in the basement to take out to South Haven. :)

We seriously considered mounting a remote throttle directly on the tiller, how cool would that be!!! Logistically though the control would have to be pretty small. SO, right now the plan is to mount it just in front of the gas tank cubby so the handle top is just below seat level. Hopefully can run it with a foot while standing on the transom when coming up the channel. I guess I'm the only one crazy enough to do this on a Hunter 23, I'll let everyone know how it works out soon.

Remote Control Location on Railing

I copied a Hunter 260 owner & placed the remote control for my 2002 Hunter 270 on the pushpit railing, using a cut down plastic breadboard clamped to the rails. It is up high so I can shift & throttle without taking my eyes off the slip while docking.
